Meet the Doctor

Nicolaas Fourie D.C.

“I find it more challenging to lie down on the couch than to stay active.”

A Passion for Athletics

For Dr. Nick, Rugby has been a lifelong pursuit finally earning him a scholarship to Life University in Atlanta. Throughout his athletic career, a Rugby injury routinely meant a trip to the physical therapist. “Naturally, I looked at a career in physical therapy as a way to stay involved in athletics.”

A Passion Turned into a Calling

Being from South Africa there weren’t a lot of chiropractors growing up. Dr. Nick had his first adjustment in college and was amazed at how quickly he felt better without taking any pain medication. From that point, he felt that regular chiropractic adjustments boosted his performance and allowed him to continue pursuing the activities he loved. “I felt better before games and healed better after games.”

When someone suggested that he look into becoming a chiropractor, he was sold. “Being a chiropractor meant I could do everything I loved about physical therapy in addition to being able to give adjustments. I love working with the body and working in training rooms.”

Chiropractic for Healing and Performance

Dr. Nick wants to help people be well enough to do the things they love. “I’ve been injured myself – many times – so I know what it feels like to be injured and then to get better. I know how important it is to people to get back to their favorite activities.”

A Body in Motion Tends to Stay in Motion

For Dr. Nick, maintaining an active lifestyle just comes naturally. “I’ve always been very active, and my family is very active. My parents are in their 70’s and they still run their own personal training business in South Africa!”

When he’s not with patients, Dr. Nick enjoys living the active Austin lifestyle. He also enjoys track and swimming and regularly competes in triathlons to keep moving. You’ll find Dr. Nick cycling, hiking the trails, or paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake). “I love Austin because everyone is very outdoorsy.”

“I came to Austin because everyone is so laid back, friendly, and active . . . and I love the warm weather. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
